- WATERMEAD STORY We always try to accomodate requests from customers. This card is the result of regularly being asked for a greeting card fto send to candidates who have completed the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) course and are being received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. We hope that this design satisfies those many requests. THE RECEPTION CEREMONY usually includes the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. However, Baptism is not always required when candidates have been baptised (Christened) into another Christian community: this first step into another Church (Church of England, Protestant, etc.) is recognised by the Catholic Church as their introduction into the life of Christ and does not need to be repeated as part of reception ceremony. THE SACRAMENTS The Christian journey is marked by special moments of God’s blessing called Sacraments. There are seven: Baptism (Christening), Confirmation (or Chrismation), the Eucharist (Holy Communion), Penance (Confession/Reconciliation), the Anointing of the Sick (formerly termed Last Rites), Holy Orders (Priesthood and Religious life) and Matrimony (Marriage) - linking the stages of human life with the stages of the spiritual life.
